Tales from the first American stunt rider to visit Russia.
By Ryan Moore,
Ive got to admit, when I was invited to Moscow I was hesitant and didnt know what to expect. Growing up hearing about the Cold War all the time made me wonder if it was even safe for me to go.
I have never traveled to a foreign country before and Russia was not really on my list of countries to visit, but I accepted the invitation and went for it anyway, and it turned out to be the trip of a lifetime!
After a 16 hour plane ride I arrived in Moscow with a big reality check; I couldnt even find a restroom because the language and alphabet are so different, and no one spoke English. I was greeted as soon as I passed through customs by Marat Kandadze, a Russian Stunt rider, who would be my guide and translator.
We got straight to work preparing my supermoto stunt CRF 450 for several stunt shows in the days to follow, which included a DVD premier, supermoto race, and the Russian Stunt Championship. I was scheduled to perform shows at all three events and be a guest judge at the championship.
The city of Moscow is absolutely amazing! The streets are super clean, flawless landscaping, and the architecture is incredible. I did take some time to do some site seeing and visit the popular spots like the Kremlin, and Red Square. All of the people were very nice and I was shocked to find out how many fans I had in Russia. All of my shows went well, and the fans were awesome!
Moscow is now at the top of my list for foreign cities to hit; I cant wait to go back and ride again and see more of the city. Keep an eye out for some video clips from my trip, getting urban on the supermoto throughout the city!
